| About Heather DuBois Born in San Jose California, Heather began her riding career at the age of four. She remembers watching the 1988 Olympics and ever since then she has been determined to represent her country as a vital member of the United States Olympic Three-Day Event Team. When her family moved to Colorado, Heather became an active participant in her 4-H group, local Pony Club and began competing in hunter and jumper competitions. She began her eventing career in 1994, and at the age of 17 became one of the United States youngest Intermediate level competitors. At the age of 18, Heather competed at her first Advanced level competition on her mount Dutch Treat, and following the mares’ retirement from eventing, the duo began actively competing in Dressage competitions where they were successful to the Intermediare division. Heather graduated high school a year early in order to spend her time training and competing, and at the age of 17 began her college education. She attended the University of Colorado where she worked on her psychology degree and was a member of the Dean’s list for her academic achievements. In 2006, she was accepted into the University of Colorado School of Dentistry where she will be graduating in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Also, she has worked at many equestrian training facilities, both public and private, and has been the manager of Chevaux DuBois Farms since 2004. The experience gained from working in these facilities has given her an extreme amount of equine management knowledge, which has been a vital importance to the health, happiness and soundness of her horses. In addition, Heather has been recognized for her quiet and effective training methods, and is pleased that all of her horses have competed all phases of the three-day competitions with snaffle bits. She has trained and cliniced with some of the best equestrian athletes in the world including Eric Horgan, Karen O’Connor, Janet Foy, Jim Wofford and Nina Fout. Not only has she received awards for her competition successes, but she has also won awards for her sportsmanship and attitude, and her horsemanship and athletic talents have given her nationwide recognition and support. |
